Physical Description		Despite the fact that she’s now entering her sixties, thanks in large part to her El-Aurian ancestry, Commander Ayase more closely resembles a human woman in her mid-twenties, with medium-length hair that mostly frames the right-side of her face, reddish-brown eyes, and jade, circular earrings. The latter of these are not necessarily in line with Starfleet Dress Code, but she would be quick to point out that there is also nothing in the dress code saying she can’t wear them, either, and chooses to wear them purely because she feels like it, and has no greater reason for doing so.

Personality & Traits

General Overview		Often referred to by her subordinates as “The El Aurian to watch out for”, Commander Ayase breaks from the tradition of her ancestors by being both blunt and fiercely outspoken. She’s not afraid of speaking her mind when and where it counts, nor is she above telling it to someone as it is without sugar-coating her feelings on the matter. While many question how she managed to get as far in the service as she did with such an abrasive, headstrong attitude, her keen eye for tactics is second-to-none, and it has subsequently made her a valuable asset for virtually any crew she’s been assigned to. And with over 40 years of service now comfortably under her belt, she has a better grasp of Starfleet rules and regulations than most and is confident in her abilities to enforce them. Though her bluntness would indicate that she lacks empathy for her peers, the truth of the matter is that she is still a listener by nature- she just expresses it differently than her fellow El Aurians. In her mind’s eye, she tends to find that clear, concise communication is key for an optimized workflow, as stating what needs to be done up front, without eccentricities, rules out the possibility of her words being misinterpreted. It shouldn’t be surprising, then, that Commander Ayase’s bluntness underpins a genuinely compassionate individual who has little to no tolerance for bullies, threats, or individuals who might exploit others for their own personal gain. She draws a hardline regarding ethics in every major department she’s had the privilege of being placed in command of, and if she were to find that one of her subordinates has committed a misdeed, she is not above handing out full demotions to drive home her stance that insincerity will not be tolerated under her watch.
